EMILY UPDATE #2

Baby Tobias born October 25, 2023

Well first off he is a very beautiful little boy named Tobias Lee Cochran. Yes we realize the initials are TLC and no it wasn’t planned that way. We picked out the middle name first and then the first name later. We fell in love with the name Tobias because it is a biblical name that means God is good and we know God will be very good to this little guy.

Things this week did not go as planned. On Monday I had a small minor stroke on the left side of my brain that has affected my right side very minimal. I did have two episodes after my stroke of inflammation of the blood vessels around where my stroke was located. We are doing a lot of testing to find out what caused it. We won’t know all the answers for a week or two.

The doctor decided that it wasn’t that safe for me to continue staying pregnant and didn’t want me getting worse or having another stroke. So we decided yesterday to do an emergency c section. Tobias was born at 9:47 pm on Wednesday October 25 at 26 weeks 3 days gestation. He weighs 1 pound 9 ounces. He needs to be on a ventilator for oxygen. Right now he is receiving only 30% oxygen which is amazing. They told us that the first 3 days are usually the best and then it will be a little bit of a roller coaster from there. We don’t know how long he is yet because he can’t fully stretch out his legs yet. He is getting close but will probably need physical therapy. He is moving his arms and legs on his own pretty good, the legs are just not fully extended. I was able to hold his hand this morning and he held on really good to my finger. He’s a strong fighter.
